Privacy Policy
Effective July 13, 2026
This policy explains what information LanternPet LLC, a Utah limited liability company ("LanternPet", "we", "us"), collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. The short version: we collect what's needed to run the service, we don't sell your data, and there are no ads.
1. Information we collect
- Account information — your email address, optional name, and settings such as preferred units and your emergency vet's contact details.
- Pet information you provide — pet profiles (species, breed, age, sex, reproductive status, weight, body condition, environment, diet, microchip number, vet contacts), health records, medications, allergies, vaccination history, weight entries, reminders, and photos you upload.
- Symptom checks — the symptom descriptions and photos you submit, and the assessments generated in response. Every symptom-check interaction is logged in full (input, output, timestamp) for safety, quality review, and legal purposes. Photos you upload may incidentally capture people, your home, or other identifying details — please avoid including personal information you don't want stored.
- Documents you scan — vet paperwork you photograph or upload so the app can extract it into health records.
- Payment information — handled entirely by Stripe. We receive your subscription status and plan, never your card number.
- Device information — a push-notification token if you enable reminders, and standard technical logs (IP address, request timestamps) generated by operating the service.
2. How we use it
- To provide the service: generate urgency assessments, keep health records, send the reminders you schedule, and manage your subscription.
- To generate an assessment, the symptom information and pet profile you provide are processed by Anthropic's Claude AI service. According to Anthropic's commercial API terms as of this policy's effective date, customer API data is not used to train their models; those terms are Anthropic's and may change over time.
- To maintain safety and quality: we retain complete triage logs and may review them to audit and improve assessment quality.
- To communicate with you about your account, billing, and material changes to the service.
We do not sell or rent your personal information, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.
3. Who processes your data
We use a small set of service providers, each only for its function: Supabase (database, authentication, and file storage), Anthropic (AI assessment generation), Stripe (payments), Render (application hosting), and Expo (push-notification delivery). Each provider processes data under its own security and privacy commitments. We disclose information beyond this only if required by law or to protect the rights and safety of users or the public.
4. Retention and deletion
We keep your information while your account is active. Deleting your account (Settings → Delete Account) permanently removes your account, pet profiles, health records, photos, symptom-check history, and cancels your billing relationship. Limited records may be retained where the law requires it (for example, financial transaction records) or in routine encrypted backups that expire on a fixed schedule.
5. Security
Data is encrypted in transit, stored with access controls that restrict each account to its own data, and uploaded photos and documents are kept in private storage accessible only through authenticated requests. We design for least access — but no internet-connected system can be guaranteed to be 100% secure, and we cannot promise absolute security of your information.
6. Children
LanternPet is not directed to children and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. Accounts and purchases require you to be 18 or older.
7. Your rights
You can view and edit your information in the app, export your pets' health records, and delete your account entirely at any time. Depending on where you live (including California and other US states with privacy laws), you may have additional rights to access, correct, delete, or obtain a copy of your personal information, and the right not to be discriminated against for exercising them. To exercise any of these rights, use the in-app tools or contact us at support@lanternpet.com.
8. Changes and contact
If we make material changes to this policy, we will notify you in the app or by email before they take effect. Questions or requests: support@lanternpet.com.
